Hace dos días que no escribo ya que fuimos a Madrid a recoger a María.
Salimos el martes por la mañana hacia Segovia que está a 4 horas y media de aquí. Llegamos como a las 2 de la tarde y lo primero que te encuentras es un acueducto gigantesco, construido por los Romanos en el siglo I…¡ Hace 20 siglos! ¡Fantástico!
Caminamos en la ciudad rumbo al Alcázar. La ciudad es muy bonita con callecitas muy pequeñas, casas muy viejas, algunas muy bien conservadas, otras no. Algo que me llamó la atención fue que casi todas las paredes tienen algún tipo de textura… ¡que no se repite!
El Alcázar es interesante y está muy bien “conservado/restaurado”. Aunque su historia provoca sentimientos encontrados. Las vistas de la torre son espectaculares. El contraste entre el color de la tierra y lo verde de los pocos árboles es precioso.
Caminamos mucho. Como a las 6:30 de la tarde nos llamó la atención ver salir a la gente de sus casas, no a los turistas (que todavía había bastantes), sino a la gente de la ciudad. Todo mundo sale a dar el paseo vespertino, se ven niños, jóvenes, adultos y muchos viejitos. Van solos, acompañados, grupitos y muchos en familia…la gran mayoría van en familia: los abuelos, los padres, los hijos, todos pasean y terminan en una churrería, con sendas tazas de chocolate y montones de churros calientes. Realmente es un placer verlos.
Ayer por la mañana paseamos un poco más, visitamos la catedral y salimos hacia el aeropuerto de Madrid. Llegamos como a la una de la tarde, se suponía que María llegaba a las 2:15, pero entre una cosa y otra acabó llegando a las 3:30, así que salimos del aeropuerto alrededor de las 4. Manejamos hasta Bojes y llegamos a casa a las 9 de la noche. María llegó molida, pero todavía conoció a Amparín y a Chirri. Para las 9:30 PM estaba en el quinto sueño.
Hoy nos levantamos temprano los tres, salimos a caminar para enseñarle “nuestro pueblo” a María… por supuesto que ya conoció a casi todos los del vecindario, los cuales la han recibido con los brazos abiertos. Hemos ido a pasear a Colombres y comimos en Panes. La estamos pasando muy bien. Estoy muy feliz de que María esté un rato con nosotros. Por ahora nos vamos a pasear, así que ya escribiré después

I haven't written in two days because we went to Madrid to pick up María.
We left Tuesday morning towards Segovia which is four and a half hours away.
We arrived at around 2 PM and the first thing we saw was a gigantic aqueduct built by the Romans during the first century... 20 centuries ago!!! Fabulous!!!
We walked towards the "Alcázar". The city is beautiful with tiny streets, very old houses, some very well kept, others not. Something that called my attention was that almost all the walls have some kind of texture on them...and it never repeats!
The Alcazar is interesting and it is very well "kept/restored". The history behind it, however provokes mixed feelings. The views from the tower are spectacular. The contrast between the color of the earth and the green of the few trees is beautiful.
We walked a lot. At around 6:30 PM we were amazed to see all the people coming out from their houses, not the tourists (there are still a lot of them), but the people from the town. Everybody comes out for the afternoon stroll, there are children, teens, adults and lots of old people. Some go by themselves, others with company; little groups and many families... the majority were families: grandparents, parents, children, all walking around and ending all together sitting at a "churreria", having a cup of Spanish hot chocolate and lots of hot churros. It is really a pleasure to see them!
Yesterday morning we walked a little bit more, visited the cathedral and left Segovia to go to the Madrid airport. We arrived at around 1 PM. Maria was supposed to arrive
at 2:15 , but for one or another reason she came out at 3:30 in the afternoon. We left the airport at 4. We drove all the way back to Bojes and arrived at 9 PM. Maria was exhausted but still got a chance to meet Amparín and Chirri last night. By 9:30 she was sound sleep.
Today we all woke up early, went for a walk to show Maria "our town"... of course she met already at almost all of our neighbors, who welcomed her with open arms.
We have been strolling at Colombres and went to eat to Panes. We are enjoying everything very much. I am very happy that Maria will spend some time with us. And now we are going to go exploring again. I will write later.
